Here, we interviewed the school faculty and the Safety Circle team's teachers on how they manage their workload as adults! Please be aware that these are all paraphrased, not direct quotes. But we tried to be accurate as possible!

Advice from Adults on Dealing with Stress

Mr. Wilson's Tips on Stress Management

  • Always staying organized and being on top of things. 
  • Exercise and fresh air.

Mr. Hahm's Tips on Stress Management

  • Don't worry about the results. 
  • Stress comes because you worry about the outcome when the outcome hasn't even come yet. So don't worry about the outcome.
  • Things that I once considered as stressful are not that stressful in the long run (when I look back at it). I realize how I worried over nothing. 
  • It's all about the perspective...
  • Stress doesn't stay. After it's all over, it's all gone. 
  • Everything after college escalates so fast. Thinking about the time I have left in my life, life is too short to be stressing over XYZ. 

Dr. Le Nezet's Tips on Stress Management

  • Try to separate things. For example, organize your time so that when you work, you just work and when you have time for yourself, only concentrate on yourself. 
  • Learn to be protective about your time. My time is my time. 
  • After working and focusing for a long time, take time to relax.  
  • Run for well being (slow, long runs in nature). While running, take time to process things on your own. You'll realize that the big problems aren't that bad. 
  • Take some time for yourself.
  • Look for where your stress is coming from. 

Ms. Chung's Tips on Stress Management

  • Exercise, run, workout. 
  • Get your blood flowing through exercise! Stress is a mental cognitive load and has to do with our mentality (thinking about things like "what do I do?" "where do I start" -- it's a panic work load). I find myself being able to reduce this stress and panic when I exercise. I can quiet down the stress and voice. 
  • Try different stretches or yoga; focus on your breathing.
  • Negative self talk quiets down when I exercise and focus on my breathing. 
  • Do yoga!
